Hello World!

For those of you who don’t know, a “Hello world” program is a computer program that outputs “Hello, world” on a display device. Because it is typically one of the simplest programs possible, it is by tradition often used to verify that a language or system is operating correctly. (courtesy of Wikipedia)

As we launch audiencemetrix.com it seems appropriate to honor this tradition, and to test the blogosphere to make sure that we are capable of the very simplest forms of communication.

Audience Metrix LLC is a new kind of research company designed to meet the challenges of a new era in market research. We focus on live events because they are what Kevin and I know. Because they are an untapped goldmine of customer insights. And because for the most part, nobody is doing it right… or at least the way we’ve been doing it for the last bunch of years.

We are indebted to our launch client, SAP, and in particular to Scott and Diane for pushing us to push the envelope way out past where it has ever been. (You know, where no man has gone before and all that jazz.) Thank you.

We are here because we think that as company after company comes to terms with the data explosion, it will create an enormous demand for useful, actionable data. The kind that we have always worked hard to deliver.

We know that as customers move freely between the conference floor and the web, as they rely on one another instead of on Marketing and Sales; understanding what they are thinking and how events are effecting their perceptions is becoming more important then ever. We are already finding ways to bring these two worlds, mindsets and experiences together.

Finally, we believe that while times are tough, there have never been more tools to do the job, and more jobs that need doing.

So here we are, all systems go. Ready to tackle new challenges. To reclaim our spots on the bleeding edge. To put what we learn through the mill of our hard-won knowledge of how business works and why people buy.
